Redmi K50 Gaming Edition launches on February 16

The Redmi K50 series has been cycling through the rumor mill since the last year. Now, the upcoming flagships of Redmi are about to be deployed. After much anticipation, the company has confirmed that at least one is coming in the next week. The hotly-anticipated Redmi K50 Gaming Edition will be revealed in China on February 16 at 7 PM local time. This particular device may reach global markets in the next few months as POCO F4 GT, but this is just an assumption right now.

The company took the opportunity to tease some of the main features coming with the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition. The new flagship will bring shoulder triggers to make the gaming experience better and more precise. Moreover, there’s a lightning bolt-shaped flash module next to three cameras. The camera’s island itself brings the words “Freezing” and “Speediest” written on the left and right sides, respectively. We assume that the first stands for a super-efficient cooling system that will make the chipset cool even during long and demanding gaming sessions.

Redmi K50 Gaming Edition will come in the next week

Judging by the leaked rear, we assume that the device has a gorgeous design and will be quite unique. According to GSMArena’s direct Chinese translation, Xiaomi’s sub-brand is calling this smartphone a “cold-blooded flagship” which again should refer to the cooling system and the hardware inside the handset. Unfortunately, the company didn’t confirm if it will also use the February 16 event to launch the remaining K50 series smartphones. Besides the K50 Gaming Edition, there is also a vanilla Redmi K50, Redmi K50 Pro, K50 Pro Plus. Perhaps, we’ll hear more about these devices the next Wednesday.

We expect Redmi to run a long teaser campaign before the smartphone’s launch. The company will build the hype for its second gaming smartphone, and we are curious to see if it will bring any special edition. If you recall, the last year’s Redmi K40 Gaming Edition brought a Bruce Lee-themed variant with Yellow and Black painting.

So far, the exact specs of the Redmi K50 Gaming Edition aren’t clear. We can expect up to 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of Internal Storage for the Chinese variant. Moreover, the device is rumored to bring the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC. This chipset is a true flagship system on chip bringing a similar architecture to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. We are curious to see the first real-life results of this promising chipset.

The other Redmi K50 series smartphones are rumored to bring Snapdragon 870, Dimensity 7000 / 8000, and Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
