Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to bring performance leaps without overheating

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

On November 15-17, in Hawaii, USA, Qualcomm will hold the annual Snapdragon Technology Summit. As usual, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will officially debut.

In recent years, the upgrade of the Snapdragon flagship platform has been somewhat weak, coupled with the problem of power consumption and heating, many users have criticized it, but this time, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 looks promising.

According to digital insider Ice Universe, compared with Snapdragon 8+ Gen1, Snapdragon 8 Gen2 can improve CPU performance by 10%, energy efficiency by 15%, GPU performance by 20%, and AI performance by up to 10% and the ISP performance has also improved a lot.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will completely solve the problem of overheating

More importantly, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will completely solve the problem of heating and “hot hands”, and directly become “frozen hands”, which is quite a bit like the good performance of Snapdragon 835 back then.

The insider also previously revealed that several major mobile phone manufacturers have begun to test the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and the results are satisfactory, and the overall energy efficiency can be improved by at least 15%.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 uses Samsung’s 5nm process, which has been subject of questions. The subsequent upgraded version of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 was changed to TSMC’s 4nm, which greatly improved its performance and energy efficiency. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will continue to use TSMC’s 4nm.
