Nothing Phone (1) gets Nothing OS 1.1.7 update, still no sign of Android 13

Nothing made its entrance into the market of phones earlier this year with the Nothing phone (1). We can’t tell whether the phone is a success or not right now, but the support keeps going on. Today, the Carl Pei company is rolling out Nothing OS 1.1.7 update for the phone with some improvements. In addition to the usual fixes, the update brings a neat feature for Apple AirPods users.

The latest Nothing OS 1.1.7 shows a battery percentage of connected Apple AirPods wireless headsets, as well as other improvements and bug fixes. The users can check if the update is already available by going to Settings >> System >> System Updates. Worth noting that the battery percentage is experimental. For that reason, it may not work in all situations. It’s up to users to test and send feedback to Nothing when needed.

Still no Android 13 for the Nothing Phone (1)

We assume that the update is rolling out in a gradual form. If no critical bug appears during this initial rollout we expect the update to reach all regions at a faster pace. As per the brand, the update brings November 2022 security patch. It also provides more accurate battery status, improves the stability of the OS, and reduces issues. It also improves the video recording performance, and audio quality, and adjusts the thermal threshold to better balance performance and temperature. Despite this, the update still has Android 12.

Nothing is committed to bringing three major Android updates for the Nothing Phone (1). The first major update is taking a while. Even so, Pei states “it is almost there”. For now, the brand keeps going with minor releases that will improve the user’s experience.

Nothing wants to enable Nothing devices such as the Nothing phone (1) to work with a variety of products. With that in mind, the brand wants to build solid support for third-party products. These include the AirPods Pro or even a Tesla vehicle. To those unaware, the phone runs with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G and has a fancy design at the back with multiple LEDs that can be used for notifications.

In the last month, Nothing announced the Nothing Ear (Stick) with a fancy case and a lot of features for the Nothing Phone (1). The company re-affirms its commitment to products with it.
