China leads in 6G network – latest information appears online

6G network

After the launch of the 5G network, there are plans to make progress in the next gen. network. At the moment, the full use of 5G is still on. However, the development of the 6G network is on its way. Just as it was with the 5G network, China is covering grounds in the 6G network advancement. From March 22nd to 24th, the 2023 Global 6G Technology Conference will hold in Nanjing, China. The theme of this event is “6G Integrating the World and Creating the Future Together”.

According to reports, this event aims to deeply discuss the 6G network and tech innovation. There will also be a consensus on 6G R&D, tech, scenarios, standardization, etc. The meeting will also discuss the need to promote a steady 6G network globally. The participating brands will work together to create a good environment for global 6G development.

The event will invite relevant global academic organizations. As of now, the groups to attend also includes

  • Finland’s 6G Flagship Program (6G Flagship)
  • Japan’s 5G Forum (5GMF)
  • Singapore’s Future Communications Program

They will jointly organize relevant forums and invite the world’s top industry experts to present technical reports. The EU and American sub-global forums will also attend for detailed talks. The event will focus on four major topics which include

  • 6G application scenarios and standardization progress
  • Network architecture and endogenous security
  • Wireless transmission and spectrum sharing
  • Space – ground integration tech and on-demand services

Top experts to attend the event

There will be a couple of top Chinese experts sharing their views at the event. Some of them include

Gizchina News of the week

  • Wu Hequan, chairman of the Future Mobile Communications Forum
  • Wu Jiangxing of the Chinese Academy of Engineering
  • Liu Yunjie of the Chinese Academy of Engineering
  • Lu Jianhua, director and chief scientist of Purple Mountain Lab
  • Director of the Bureau of Standards
  • Other well-known experts within and outside China

The 2023 Global 6G Tech event will adopt the method of “on-site discussion + remote interaction in multiple places around the world”. The 3-day event will include the opening ceremony report, 8 round table forums, 3 global forums and 4 closed door events. These different events will discuss how the 6G network will proceed. There will be decisions in the future digital world. During the conference, Purple Mountain Lab will introduce the latest research results on the 6G network. There will also be the official release of a couple of 6G technical white papers.

Last year, the “14th Five-Year Plan” digital economy dev plan issued by the State Council clearly points out that it is necessary to increase support for 6G tech R&D and actively participate in the promotion of the 6G global standard. At present, China has made important progress in the research of key techs such as 6G ultra-large-scale MIMO, terahertz communication, synaesthesia integration, endogenous AI communication, deterministic network, and satellite-ground integrated network.

6G network should launch in 2030

China Mobile published the “Technical White Paper on 6G Network Architecture” a few days ago. The technical report shows a 6G overall architecture design with a “three-body, four-layer, and five-sided” structure. This is also the first systematic release of the 6G network architectural design in the industry. 5G has been commercially available in China for more than three years. The number of 5G mobile phone users currently exceeds 400 million. According to the law, which requires that digital cellular tech be updated every ten years or so, 6G will be launched around 2030.

Through a thorough study of driving factors, assessments, and conceptions, China Mobile’s “6G Network Architecture Technology White Paper” proposes a cross-domain, cross-layer, and multi-dimensional 6G network architecture from three perspectives: spatial view, layered view, and functional view. China is obviously making some good moves to ensure that it comes tops in the 6G network drive.
