Reports suggest that Apple orders first generation 3nm chips from TSMC. Moreover, these chips will be used in upcoming MacBooks and the much-hyped iPhone 15 Pro lineup, which will be available later this year. DigiTimes report reveals that the iPhone manufacturer makes 100% procurement of N3 supply.

Despite the huge production cost, these chips will have a high yield. The manufacturer started the mass production of these 3nm chipsets in December.  Moreover, the production speed has increased a lot. Thus, it will increase the monthly output to 45,000 wafers in March.

Why Apple Needs TSMC’S 3nm Chips?

Apple has been using the TSMC chipset in its Bionic chipsets for the past few years. The 3nm technology of TSMC will use in this year’s A17 Bionic chipset. Thanks to the 3nm technology, upcoming Apple iPhone 15 Pro lineup will have a considerable power to operate. The technology will save 35% power compared to the 4nm technology that the company used in Apple iPhone 14.

The best part is that the last year’s Apple flagship phones were the only ones with 4nm technology. The iPhone maker will use the latest 3nm technology in its upcoming devices for improved performance. Additionally, Apple aims to reveal the Apple MacBook later this year with TSMC’S 3nm Chip.

Gizchina News of the week

Last year, rumors suggested that the Apple MacBook 13 inch and 15-inch MacBook Air will release in first half of 2023. Amazingly, these laptops will come with 4nm M3 Max and M3 Pro chips. Now, there are enough chances that Apple will release these gadgets with latest chips in first half of 2024.

The TSMC’S 3nm Chip will improve performance and power efficiency. In contrast, the 5nm chipset is the opposite of this. There is no need for examples, but if you insist, M2 Pro and M2 Max chips use the 5nm process and couldn’t live up to expectations.

TSMC 3nm Chip will improve Apple flagship devices’ performance and power efficiency compared to their predecessors. Furthermore, the company is working to create a better version of N3, which will be N3E. N3E is the first generation 3nm technology available for commercial production later this year.

Moreover, Apple will be the first customer to acquire the commercial production. Rumors say that the iPhone manufacturer is working hard to introduce the M3E technology in its upcoming devices. But there has yet to be any official news from the company.
