AirPods Pro 2: USB-C Charging Case Set to Launch in Q2 2023

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo updated the launch predictions for the new wireless earbuds. However, the transition to the USB-C port will only be available for the AirPods Pro 2, and consumers may have to pay extra for the ‘Pro’ versions just for a difference in the charging port. It remains unclear if Apple sells the USB-C wireless charging case separately.

It is unknown how much the AirPods Pro 2 with the USB-C charging case will cost, but it could start at the same $249 as the previous iteration. Keep in mind that the Lightning port version of the Air Pods Pro 2 is available for $199.99.

USB-C Charging Port: A Major Change

One of the most significant changes in the new AirPods Pro 2 is the switch from the Lightning port to the USB-C charging port. This shift may seem minor, but it means that consumers will no longer need to carry extra cables to charge their earbuds. The new charging case will also likely support Qi wireless charging, providing even more convenience.

While the transition to the USB-C charging port is exciting news, it only appears limited to the Air Pods Pro 2. This means that consumers will have to pay extra for the “Pro” version to get the new charging case with the USB-C port. Analysts predict that the new AirPods Pro 2 could start at $249, which is $50 more than the Lightning port version of the AirPods, which is routinely available for $199.99 at places like Amazon and Verizon.

There is no indication that Apple intends to sell the USB-C wireless charging case separately. Looking at the company’s past business practices, it seems unlikely that they will do so. Therefore, if you want the new charging case with the USB-C port, you will have to purchase the AirPods Pro 2.
