Motorola Edge 40 Pro unveiled: 165Hz display and 125W charging!

Motorola Edge 40 Pro

Motorola has just unveiled its latest flagship phone, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro, and it seems to be one of the best devices that the manufacturer has ever produced. The device is a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the Motorola Edge 30 Pro, and incorporates many design elements from the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, which was launched last year. So, the Edge 40 Pro offers numerous enhancements in terms of design, durability, and performance, making it a highly attractive option within its price range and potentially one of the best Android phones for 2023.

So, one of the most noticeable changes is the phone’s new look and materials. The device comes in a sleek and thin form factor, featuring a borderless display sandwiched between Corning Gorilla Glass Victus back and front panels and an aluminum frame. Additionally, the phone is IP68 certified for dust and water resistance, meaning it can survive depths of up to 1.5 meters in freshwater for up to 30 minutes.

Also, the Edge 40 Pro is equipped with Qualcomm’s latest and most advanced chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (4 nm). In addition, the company claims that this chipset delivers 35% better CPU performance, 25% better GPU performance, and 40% greater power efficiency. As one of the best chipsets currently available, it is expected to yield excellent results during testing.

Furthermore, the base storage and memory have been increased, offering more value for money. The entry-level version comes with 12GB of RAM (the only memory option), and 256GB of storage, which is now faster, being UFS 4.0 compared to UFS 3.1 in the Edge 30 Pro.

Motorola Edge 40 Pro features

Also, the Edge 40 Pro’s camera hardware is similar to its predecessor, featuring main, ultra-wide, and selfie cameras. However, unlike the Edge 30 Pro, the Edge 40 Pro features a 12MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom instead of a useless 2MP depth shooter. Additionally, the Edge 40 Pro introduces new video shooting modes, including Night Vision mode, Horizon Lock for stabilizing footage, active autofocus tracking, and portrait mode while shooting video.

So, several new video shooting modes have been added to the Motorola Edge 40 Pro, including:

The Edge 40 Pro also boasts better battery life and faster charging speeds, with a claimed battery life of over 30 hours on a single charge and a maximum wired charging of 125W, which can charge the phone fully in just 23 minutes. The phone also introduces Moto Spatial Sound, a feature that enhances the sound coming out of the device’s speakers or connected headphones.

Lastly, the Edge 40 Pro features an even more capable display than its predecessor, with a 165Hz refresh rate compared to the Edge 30 Pro’s 144Hz and support for Dolby Vision, whereas the predecessor only supported HDR10+.

Motorola Edge 40 Pro specs:

So, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro will be available in Europe starting at €899.99, with sales beginning in the coming days. While it’s not yet confirmed, the phone is expected to land in the US later this year.
