Small screen mobile phones revenue cannot handle the R&D costs – Xiaomi

There is a small group of mobile phone users in the market who crave small – screen devices. However, it appears that the general mobile phone market has since moved past a mobile phone with a display of less than 6 inches. A netizen left a message to Lei Jun, the founder of Xiaomi, that he wants a small – size mobile phone. In this regard, Lei Jun said: “Xiaomi 13 is already very good, the user group for mobile phones with small screens is too small. So, the sales volume cannot support the R&D costs of the flagship”.

Lei Jun also pointed out that the Xiaomi 13 is a small – size mobile phone with a super good hand feel. It has a four-narrow-edge screen, Leica triple camera, telephoto, IP68, etc. The size of the device is only 6.36 inches, the frame is only 1.61mm, and the screen-to-body ratio hits 93.3%. With its unique outer frame design, the visual of this device is better than that of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro. Not only that, the Xiaomi 13 uses a new E6 luminescent material, the full screen brightness can reach 1200nit, and the peak brightness can reach 1900nit. Even under the same brightness, the power consumption is also reduced by 22% compared with the previous gen, Xiaomi 12.

In addition, the display of the small screen Xiaomi 13 has also been optimized for eye protection. It comes with front and rear dual light sensing and ambient colour temperature sensing. This can create the most comfortable visual environment for users under different light conditions. The built-in natural eye protection mode of the system can reduce the proportion of harmful blue light without changing the display colour.

Xiaomi will not release a small screen mobile phone

Small screen mobile phones have obvious advantages in terms of grip and portability. But it is a pity that the technological development and usage environment of phones today are doomed to the gradual disappearance of small screen mobile phones. At present, except for a few mobile phone brands such as Apple and Samsung, other brands basically no longer launch models with screen sizes of 6.1 inches and below.

With the hope that Xiaomi could launch a small screen mobile phone, some netizens asked Lei Jun. And Lei Jun responded … “Xiaomi 13 is already very good, exactly the same width as the iPhone 14, and the best balance between screen size and feel is found. The small size has an impact on the camera and battery life.”

We can see that from Lei Jun’s statement, Xiaomi will likely not launch a small screen mobile phone. Due to the small market, the sales of small screen mobile phones cannot be guaranteed. Also, their actual configuration and user experience will also be limited due to their size.

The current Xiaomi 13 may be the product that is closest to the “small-size mobile phone” on Xiaomi’s shelf. But even so, the screen size of Xiaomi 13 is still around 6.36 inches, which is not as small as those who love such devices will want. However, the sales of Xiaomi 13 seem to be very good. As a high-end product with a starting price of around 4,000 yuan ($577), Xiaomi 13 has not only achieved hot sales online but also gained the love of many users offline.

The Xiaomi 13 is a flagship mobile phone that offers top-notch performance and a sleek design. The phone has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. This offers a very clear and vibrant viewing experience. The Xiaomi 13 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. This is one of the most powerful chips on the market at the moment.

One of the key features of the Xiaomi 13 is its camera. The phone has a triple camera setup on the back. This includes a 108MP primary camera, a 13MP ultra-wide camera, and a 5MP macro camera. The camera is capable of taking high-quality photos and videos, and it has a number of special features and expertise from experts at Leica.

In addition to its camera, the Xiaomi 13 also has a number of other impressive features. The phone has a large 5,000 mAh battery, which provides all-day battery life. It also has 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, which is more than enough for most users.

Sleek modern design

The Xiaomi 13 has a sleek and modern design, with a glass back and an aluminium frame. The phone is available in a range of colours, including black, blue, and silver. Xiaomi has also paid attention to the ergonomics of the Xiaomi 13, ensuring a comfortable fit.

The Xiaomi 13 runs on MIUI 14, which is Xiaomi’s custom Android skin. MIUI 14 is based on Android 13 and has a number of new features and improvements. The team behind MIUI 14 updated the system architecture on the Android Kernel level with CPU, GPU, and memory resource scheduling, which makes the system lighter and more efficient.

Overall, the Xiaomi 13 is a flagship mobile phone that offers top-notch performance and a range of impressive features. Its camera is one of its standout features, but it also has a large battery. Also, this device uses a huge RAM and storage, and a sleek design. If you’re looking for a high-end smartphone that won’t break the bank, then the Xiaomi 13 is a good bet.

Though this device is selling so well, Xiaomi will likely not release a similar model in the iPhone 14  series. The words of Lei Jun suggest that the process needed to produce a similar product is not as simple as making a large screen device.

As a Xiomi user (tab5) i think the actual problem is mot 8n the size. But more on the problems they left the customers hanging once we bought yheir products. And this are not a trivial or something u just ignored, but mains one like now the stylus problems on pad5 after updates. Half of the actual usage of tablet gone when u took away the super ridiculous expensive stylus to connect to the tab.

Address the major problems first then u can see people’s going back to this brand like the old days
