The market for gaming on-the-go has grown bigger recently and the pandemic has made it even bigger. With the popularity of cloud gaming and subscription-based services like Gamepass, it’s no surprise that Microsoft might enter the mobile gaming industry. The Xbox brand is already well-known in the console business.  So a handheld gaming device would allow the brand to extend its reach and enter a new market.

But launching a handheld gaming device is an uphill battle. To make it a viable choice for gamers, Microsoft would have to address some concerns. They include battery life, performance, and cost. They would also have to look at the market and players in it. It includes established rivals such as Nintendo as well as newbie Valve with its SteamDeck.
