With iOS 17 you can turn Photos into animated Stickers

Stickers aren’t new for iPhone and iPad users that are familiar with the Messages app. Apple was quick to implement that feature after the surge in popularity. Stickers have been there for a while, but now with iOS 17, they are about to get much better. During WWDC 2023, Apple unveiled macOS Sonoma, Apple Vision Pro, iOS 17 with new features and improvements, and much more. When it comes to iOS 17, the iPhone Operating system is giving a deep treatment to stickers making them more important and more customizable.

New Animated Stickers

To start on the changes brought by iOS 17, all emojis are now considered stickers. Hence, all can be used in the Messages app like stickers, with emoji listed right alongside Memoji stickers and stickers packs that you’ve got from the App Store. Moreover, you also make your own stickers using the removed subject from the background tool. That neat feature was added back with iOS 16 and is still available with the latest update. Now, the real deal is the possibility of creating animated stickers right from your photos.

If you select the Add Sticker option, the selected object will move to the sticker interface. From the menu, you can add an effect or delete it. Effects include adding a white sticker outline, a “puffy” sticker effect, a glittery effect, and more. Subjects pulled from the Live Photos can be transformed into animated stickers.

iOS 17 availability

iOS 17 is currently available only for developers through the “Developer Beta” program. Those who want to experience it will need to wait until July when the giant will roll out the Public Beta. Obviously, these builds may contain bugs and certain issues. If you’re not an expert the best thing to do is to wait until September when the company will likely roll out the stable update.
