Editing Sent Messages on WhatsApp is Now Possible, But You Need to do it Quickly


Finally, the long-awaited feature on WhatsApp is beginning to come into existence. Many users of the instant messaging platform have requested for this feature for quite some time now. The feature that allows users to edit an already sent message is underway to users. For a start, this feature is coming to users of the desktop version of WhatsApp.

According to WABetaInfo, this new feature is now available to some beta testers. The company plans to expand the beta availability in the coming days.  The CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg announced this feature earlier via the company’s Instagram channel. The feature comes with the name “Edit Message”.

How Useful is the Edit Message Feature? WhatsApp Edit Message

This feature will help a lot of WhatsApp users in many ways. For example, if you send a message and realize that there was a typing mistake, you can quickly edit the message and correct your mistakes. Also, if you make a statement in a chat and you change your mind, you can edit the message and state your new idea before the recipient reads it. Finally, you don’t have to delete a message and retype the whole thing all over again.

One notable part of this feature is the time involved. If you need to make any corrections, you need to be quick about it as there is a timeline on this feature. If you send a message, you have up to 15 minutes to edit the text and make the necessary corrections. After 15 minutes, you may have to use the old method by deleting the whole message from the chat and resending it. Editing it after 15 minutes is not possible.’

Also note that you cannot edit a message that was sent from a different device. To be able to edit a message, you will have to do it on that same device you used in sending the message.

Currently, the feature is available to some beta tester starting from today. In the coming days, more users will be able to access the beta version. The general public will receive the feature in some few weeks. Also, please note that the feature is currently available on the desktop version of WhatsApp. You can download it from the Microsoft store and experience it.
