Honor, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, is all set to launch its new foldable smartphone, the Honor Magic V2, on July 12, 2023. At the MWC Shanghai event held today, Honor’s CEO, George Zhao gave a keynote speech on evolution and innovation in the mobile phone industry. As part of his speech, he revealed that the company will officially launch the Honor Magic V2 on July 12. The company has been teasing the launch of this device for a while now, and the official announcement has finally been made. Here’s everything you need to know about the Honor Magic V2. According to Mr Zhao, the new mobile phone will “revolutionize the foldable experience”.

Honor Magic V2

The Honor Magic V2 is all set to join the company’s lineup of foldable screen mobile phones. The device is expected to come with a host of new features and improvements over its predecessor, the Honor Magic V. The Honor Magic V2 is expected to be a premium device, with a price tag to match.

Design and Display

The Honor Magic V2 already has 3C certification which indicates that the launch is imminent. The original Honor Magic V was a design triumph, and the new Honor Magic V2 is expected to be no different. According to ZDNet, this phone will come with a retractable slide design that hides the front cameras. The design also leaves more room for the screen, with almost no bezels. Android police claim that this device will come with an AMOLED display with a high resolution. The report also reveals that the Honor Magic V2 will support an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The Honor Magic V2 is expected to come with a foldable display, similar to its predecessor. The device is rumoured to have a larger display than the Honor Magic V, with an expanded screen size of around 8 inches. The device is also expected to come with a high refresh rate, which will make it ideal for gaming and other high-performance tasks.

Hardware and Performance

Last week, popular and credible tech blogger @DCS reported that the Honor Magic V2 will launch on July 12. Honor’s confirmation of this launch date lends credence to the credibility of @DCS. While @DCS revealed the launch date, he also posted information about the hardware of this device.

The source also claims that this device will use an LTPO AMOLED with high-frequency PWM dimming. At the moment, there are not many details on the display of this device. But Gsmarena thinks that the LTPO panel should have a higher (than 90Hz) refresh rate.

Camera

The Honor Magic V2 is expected to come with a triple-camera setup on the back, which will include a primary sensor, an ultra-wide sensor, and a telephoto sensor. The device is also expected to come with a front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. Below are some specifics

  • Improved Low-Light Performance: DigitalTrends also reported that the Honor Magic V2 is expected to have improved low-light performance. Thanks to its larger sensor and improved image processing.
  • Optical Image Stabilization: Some rumours suggest that the Honor Magic V2 may have optical image stabilization, which would help to reduce blur in photos and videos

In his report, @DCS also mentions a 108Mp outsole main camera for the Honor Magic V2. This sensor should be one of the three rear camera shooters on this device.

Battery and Charging

The Honor Magic V2 is expected to come with a large battery, which will be capable of providing all-day battery life. The device is also expected to come with fast charging support. It will allow users to charge the device quickly and efficiently. According to @DCS, this device will support 5800 mAh super large battery while Gsmarena says its charging capacity will be 66W wired and 50W wireless charging.

Software

The Honor Magic V2 is expected to run on the latest version of Android, which is Android 13. The device is also expected to come with Honor’s custom skin. This will include a host of new features and improvements over the stock Android experience.

Final Words

When Honor released the Magic Vs, it was an upgrade over the first Magic V. Its body is 10% lighter and it also has a redesigned hinge. Thus, we also expect the Magic V2 to be an upgrade over the Magic V. The Magic V2 is shaping up to be a premium device, with a host of new features and improvements over its predecessor. The device is expected to be a high-performance device, capable of handling even the most demanding tasks with ease. As a foldable phone, the screen of this device will be one of its selling points. However, we can not talk about other selling points until the device is officially released. The Honor Magic V2 is set to launch on July 12 and we will have to wait a few days to confirm what makes the Honor Magic V2 so revolutionary.
