A powerful gaming tablet and an intriguing Red Magic 8S Pro smartphone were unveiled in China today. The smartphone is the world’s most powerful model based on Qualcomm SoC. It uses the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2, boasting a supercore frequency of 3.36 GHz. Coupled with a robust cooling system featuring a fan, it achieves an impressive performance result of 1.71 million points in AnTuTu. The Red Magic 8S Pro offers a version with 24 GB of physical RAM, making it the first of its kind. The top-of-the-line model also includes 1TB of flash memory.

Introducing the Red Magic 8S Pro: A Powerful Gaming Smartphone with Cutting-Edge Features

Featuring an OLED screen with a 6.8-inch diagonal and a resolution of 2480 x 1116 pixels, the Red Magic 8S Pro provides a frame rate of 120 Hz. It boasts a maximum brightness of 1300 cd / sq.m. and a PWM adjustment frequency of 1440 Hz. The display covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color space. The smartphone‘s under-screen, seventh-generation fingerprint scanner not only unlocks the device but also measures the user’s heart rate. The developers have focused on creating a slim frame, with widths of only 1.48 mm on the left and right, 1.68 mm on the top, and 2.28 mm on the bottom. The display occupies almost 94% of the front panel area and lacks any cutouts, with the 16-megapixel front camera hidden beneath the screen.

Equipped with a 6000 mAh battery, the Magic 8S Pro supports 80W charging, enabling a full charge in just 25 minutes. Additionally, the 8S Pro+ version features a 5000 mAh battery but with double the power at 165 watts, providing a complete charge in 14 minutes.

While gaming smartphones often prioritize other features over the camera, the Red Magic 8S Pro boasts a main sensor from Samsung, the S5KGN5, with a resolution of 50 megapixels. Accompanying sensors include 8-megapixel and 2-megapixel resolutions, though optical stabilization is absent.

Running on RedMagic OS 8.0 based on Android 13, the 8S Pro offers a gaming-focused user interface. The updated shell enhances interface smoothness by 30% compared to its predecessor.

Availability and prices

Pre-sales for the 8S Pro will commence in China on July 5. With official sales beginning on July 11. Here are the prices for the different variants:
