Yesterday, Samsung officially announced the availability of the One UI 6 beta program. As I’ve covered, the beta firmware is currently available for the Galaxy S23 series. If you reside in South Korea, Germany, or the United States, you can get your phone updated through the Samsung Members app. The stable version, on the other hand, will be available for a lot of models. You can check out the list here.
That said, with One UI 6, I was expecting Samsung to improve the overall camera performance of the S23 series. Don’t get me wrong, the phones, especially the S23 Ultra, are already great at capturing eye-catching photos. But there’s still room for improvement. Well, Samsung has delivered it with the update!
Camera Improvements on One UI 6
With One UI 6, Samsung has introduced many new and advanced features. Among them, the camera app has got several new features. One of them is called Custom Camera widget. It basically lets you quickly open the camera in a particular mode. But what’s more important is that the update has improved the phones’ camera performance.

In the stock camera app of One UI 6, you’ll see three advanced features. They are Maximum, Medium, and Minimum. Maximum is the default option, focusing on image quality over the processing and capture speed. Medium offers a balanced speed and quality. And as you may have guessed, Minimum prioritizes camera speed over quality.
So, which option should you choose?? If you’re someone that captures moving subjects, choose the Medium or Minimum option. The image quality is still decent on both modes. But if you want the best possible quality, tune the camera settings on One UI 6’s camera app to Maximum.
Note that the camera app may exhibit slight sluggishness when you’re in the Maximum mode. But that shouldn’t be an issue if you’re capturing still subjects. That said, One UI 6 has more in store, and we’ll cover them all as we explore them. So, stay tuned!
