Microsoft’s Bold Move to Challnge the PC Market: Introducing New Surface PCs

Microsoft currently holds a small share of the PC market, approximately 3%. They want to increase this. They are scheduled to host an event in New York in mid-September. At this event, they will introduce new Surface PCs, Microsoft accessories, and updates to Windows 11. Microsoft’s Surface notebooks have never achieved more than a 2.1% of the PC shipments market, as estimated by a technology research company called Gartner. Lenovo holds the largest market share, approximately 25%.HP follows closely with a 19% share, while Dell trails with 18%.

People are guessing that Microsoft has been creating new devices like Surface Go 4, Surface Laptop Studio 2, and Surface Laptop Go 3. Retailers in Australia have been informed about a possible release in the last three months.

The Microsoft Surface Studio 2 May Feature Intel Processor Microsoft Surface

According to Windows Central, the upcoming Surface Laptop Studio 2 will come with Intel’s newest processors, a stronger graphics card, and better ports to connect devices. In Australia, Microsoft’s sales of Surface hardware devices have been decreasing. Even though Microsoft is a major seller of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office licenses, they haven’t been able to make the most of their strong position in the PC software market.

The company decided to delay the release of a Surface Go 4 with an Arm processor and chose to use an Intel processor instead. There’s a rumor that the Surface Go 3 will come with Intel’s 12th Generation processors and a better starting setup. Microsoft’s “special event” will be their first since they made changes to their hardware lineup and had some job cuts earlier this year.

The event might also provide information about the upcoming major update for Windows 11.

Earlier this year, Microsoft announced their plan to launch a September update for Windows 11. This update will bring features like built-in support for RAR and 7-Zip files, a new homepage for settings, an improved volume control, and early access to Windows Copilot.

The issue known as “Flickergate” with Surface devices is still persisting.

Just a few months ago, Microsoft was addressing issues with their Surface laptops. Many Surface Pro 4 owners had been raising concerns about screen flickering problems with their tablets. Microsoft’s support forums were flooded with problems, as many owners were complaining about issues with flickering. The issue is still happening, and most of the devices experiencing the problem are no longer covered by warranty.

During that time, The Verge reported that more than 1,600 owners of Surface Pro 4 had encountered screen flickering problems. The flickering seems to be a hardware problem that happens when the device gets warm during use. “We are aware that some customers have faced a screen flicker issue on Surface Pro 4 and we are closely observing the situation,” said a Microsoft spokesperson in a statement to The Verge. They advised customers who are still dealing with the problem to get in touch with Microsoft support.
