Sharing photos and videos on WhatsApp via iOS has often led to a disappointing reduction in quality. Despite the impressive capabilities of iPhone cameras, media shared through the app tends to undergo compression. Resulting in diminished visual appeal. However, a solution is now on the horizon.

Original Quality Photos and Videos Now Available for iOS Users

The latest stable iOS update, identified as build number 23.24.73, has been submitted by WhatsApp to the App Store, marking a potential end to the quality loss issue. WABetaInfo uncovered this development, revealing that the update empowers users to send photos and videos in their original quality, free from compression.

To take advantage of this feature, users need to share images and videos through the Documents option in the share sheet, followed by selecting Choose Photo or Video. This update is currently rolling out, urging iOS users to promptly update their WhatsApp to version 23.24.73 to benefit from the enhancement.

It’s essential to note that while sharing original quality media enhances the viewing experience, it comes at the cost of increased data consumption. Particularly, video files, known for their size, could substantially contribute to monthly data usage.

While iOS users revel in this improvement, Android users remain in anticipation. WhatsApp initiated testing for Android users in September, but the stable version release is yet to be confirmed. We do not know a specific date for the Android update, leaving users eager for the enhanced media-sharing experience.

In August, WhatsApp introduced the capability to send High Definition (HD) photos, a noteworthy progression from Standard Definition (SD). This marked a positive stride towards improving the overall media-sharing quality within the platform. As users adapt to the evolving features, the latest iOS update promises a more satisfying experience for iPhone users. Reinforcing WhatsApp’s commitment to enhancing user interactions.
