Samsung is preparing for the February 17th global debut of the Galaxy S24 series. The event will be presented at the Galaxy Unpacked event in the US. Following its previous sneak peek at the new flat-screen design, a fresh video leak of the Galaxy S24 Ultra has now surfaced online, revealing its front screen in a close-up, indicating that it is flatter and rectangular than earlier curved screens.

Despite the Galaxy S series’ attractive appearance, curved screens. They tend to break and are sensitive to unintentional touches, and installing screen protectors could be tedious. Eventually, there will be other participants in this flat-screen revolution than Samsung, though. With Google’s Pixel series adopting the flat design as well, Chinese smartphone manufacturers like Vivo, Oppo, and OnePlus are mostly in control of the curved display trend.

Conversely, companies such as Honor and Xiaomi are pushing the boundaries with quad-curved screens. These displays include a curved top and bottom in addition to curved sides, giving the impression of a waterfall. It seems that Samsung is prioritising usefulness and practicality over the curved screen’s aesthetic appeal with its flat display and thin bezels. For many people who prioritise utility above form, this might be a welcome adjustment.
