The tipster added that the test builds on the Galaxy S23 Ultra are already looking good. That means Samsung might stick with the ISOCELL HP2 sensor found in the Galaxy S23 Ultra. However, as per the tip, Samsung will make software improvements to make the S24 Ultra take even better pictures than its predecessor.
What About New Sensors?
If Samsung does only focus on the software department, it means we will not see a 1-inch sensor with the Galaxy S24 series. But it does not mean Samsung will not work on the telephoto sensor, which the previous rumor has shed light on. We could still see Samsung making a shift to a variable optical zoom sensor.
But for the base Galaxy S24 and the Plus models, Samsung might stick with the same GN3 sensor. At least, that is what a tweet from Revengus, another renowned tipster, is hinting at. However, Samsung will make the rest of the phones of the series enjoy the same software upgrade.

Yes, it would be disappointing to find Samsung using the same sensor on the Galaxy S24 series, especially after the last leak regarding the camera system. But as far as I can tell, the camera performance of the phones will not disappoint. After all, Samsung needs to compete with the upcoming Pixel 8 and iPhone 15 lineups. Those are rumored to come with great camera systems too.
Moreover, Xiaomi 13 Ultra shook the world with its amazing camera sensor and performance. That is another competitor that the Samsung Galaxy S24 series need to beat. So, just because the phones might use last-gen sensors, it does not mean that the S24 lineup will offer sub-par performance.
