Sony’s Latest PS5 Beta Update Enhances Audio Experience

Sony Sells 6.3 million PS5s - PlayStation 5

Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) recently unveiled a beta update for the PlayStation 5, bringing a suite of improvements designed to elevate the overall gaming experience. This update focuses primarily on three key areas: enhanced audio capabilities, refined communication tools, and expanded social features within the Share Screen function.

Amplifying Immersion: The update empowers DualSense and DualSense Edge wireless controllers to generate louder audio output, ensuring gamers never miss crucial in-game sounds or the nuances of voice chat. Additionally, the Noise Cancellation feature receives an AI-powered boost thanks to a new machine learning model. This allows the PS5 system to effectively suppress background noise. Including game audio itself, resulting in crisper, clearer voice chat and smoother communication.

Beyond Sound: The update extends beyond acoustics. Offering customization options like adjusting the console‘s power indicator brightness under “Beep and Light” in System Settings. More significantly, it introduces interactive tools for viewers within the Share Screen function. These tools aim to foster a more engaging co-viewing experience. Viewers can now employ a pointer to direct the host’s attention to specific in-game elements or even draw directly on the screen to highlight points of interest. Furthermore, viewers can express themselves through emoji reactions sent directly to the host’s screen. These interactive features are enabled by default but can be easily disabled in settings. It’s crucial to note that these features currently require both the viewer and host to have access to beta functionalities.

Global Rollout on the Horizon: While this update is currently available to select users in specific regions, SIE assures broader accessibility for all PS5 owners in the months ahead. This phased rollout allows for continuous refinement based on user feedback. Paving the way for a seamless and enhanced gaming experience for the entire PlayStation community.
