Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4 Launched With 3:2 144Hz Display and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

Xiaomi took the wraps off the Xiaomi 14 Ultra in China today. While the new premium flagship was the star of the event, the company also brought a brand new tablet dubbed Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4. As you might expect, that name comes from a 12.4-inch screen. The panel is one of the highlights of this tablet, but it also does impress with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 which brings flagship performance, even in 2023.

The Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro is an all-metal tablet that sells in three distinct colors - Black, Blue, and Green. The slate weighs just 590 grams and has six speakers and Dolby Atmos support. There are four microphones on the tablet. The Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro is bigger than the regular Pad 6 Pro even though it also has a 12.4-inch IPS LCD screen. The Pad 6S Pro features a boxier 3:2 aspect ratio, a higher 3,048 x 2032 pixels resolution, and a 144 Hz refresh rate.

According to Xiaomi, the device has 900 nits of peak brightness. Xiaomi states that this tablet's display is professionally color-calibrated to the CIE2015 color curve, matching Xiaomi's flagship line of TV, laptop, and phone displays. The panel is covered with Gorilla Glass 5 and supports pen input. The device has a touch sampling rate of 360 Hz, but for the pen input, it's 240 Hz.

The Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro comes with Android 14-based HyperOS. Some apps will offer unique optimizations to take the best out of the tablet's big screen. The WPS Office and CajViewer support triple-screen split, which is something very interesting compared to the usual double-screen split feature. Xiaomi calls it "Workbench". You can have two apps running side-by-side, or several apps as a floating window over the UI.

It's also possible to pair the tablet with an external monitor or use it as a second display for a Windows laptop. The device's back can also magnetically attach to the Xiaomi SU7 EV. Therefore, it can become part of the car's infotainment system.

The Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4 has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with 8GB, 12 GB, or 16 GB of RAM. There is also 256GB, 512GB, or 1 TB of internal storage. The battery is a huge 10,000 mAh unit with 120W fast charging. The processor makes it a powerhouse for all apps and even gaming.

The battery also means you will get long hours of usage without running out of energy. The fast-charging tech promises a full charge in just 35 minutes, which is very fast considering the battery's size. Xiaomi has implemented two custom chips to safeguard the battery. There is a P2 chip that monitors the fast charging, while the G1 chip manages the battery health.

Although the Camera is not usually the focus of tablets, the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro does an excellent job in this department. The tablet comes with a 50 MP 1/2.76" sensor with f/1.8 aperture. It is joined by a 2 MP depth sensor for portraits. The rear camera supports 4K video recording. For selfies and video calls, there is an excellent 32 MP shooter with f/2.2 aperture.

The Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro is on sale now in Black, Green and Blue. The 8GB/256GB costs CNY 3,299 (€420, £360, INR 38,600). The variant with 12/256GB model is set at CNY 3,599 (€470, £400, INR 41,400), and the 12/512GB is CNY 3,999 (€520, £440, INR 46,800). The high-end model with 16GB/1TB model costs CNY 4,499 (€590, £500, INR 52,700).

Xiaomi currently offers two accessories for the Pad 6S Pro 12.4. The tablet has a Smart Touch Keyboard which costs CNY 649 (€85), and the Focus Stylus for CNY 499 (€65). The keyboard has full-sized and backlit keys and a mechanical trackpad, while the stylus supports 8192 levels of pressure and has 3ms of latency.
