WhatsApp Chat Filters is here to keep your chats organized

WhatsApp

WhatsApp is keen to make the app better and improve user experience. Over the past few weeks, the company has tested a couple of features including AI Integration and status update notification. Yesterday, the company officially announced a new feature called WhatsApp Filters. The idea behind this feature is that WhatsApp wants users to find the right conversations in the right place. With this feature, important conversations can be placed ahead of less important chats. This way, users can get to their important messages faster.

WhatsApp Chat Filters

How does WhatsApp Filters work?

According to the company, this new feature will use different criteria to filter chat. Above the chats on the WhatsApp page, the different filters will be displayed. Thus, users can seamlessly activate any of the filters with a single click. These filters are pretty easy to understand as their names are self-explanatory. The filters available for now are

  • All
  • Unread
  • Groups

If you select “All”, then it will be the default view of all messages.

However, if you choose “Unread”, then all messages that have not been read will appear. This will help the user easily catch up with chats that they need to respond to. For instance, if you have 200 persons on your chat list with 20 unread messages, it will be difficult to scroll down to all the messages considering that some of these unread messages may be far down the list. The Unread filter will bring all 20 messages to the front page and you can attend to all of them easily.

The third filter is “Groups” and according to WhatsApp, this is a “highly requested feature”. With this filter, users can have all groups in one place and attend to the messages therein. This filter will make it easier for users to find the groups whose content they want to attend to. Furthermore, this filter will show subgroups of Communities.
