Snapdragon Summit is right around the corner. This event will introduce the next-gen Qualcomm 3 nm SoC. After that, smartphone manufacturers will start to announce their new flagship phones. OnePlus 13 will be among them. According to recent reports, the device will feature a faster and more secure ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. This would be a big upgrade. However, reports also suggest that the phone will cost more than its predecessor.

Recent Leak Roundup of OnePlus 13

The OnePlus 13 will reportedly be a much better smartphone than its predecessor. Numerous leaks and rumors have hinted at exciting upgrades. That includes a revamped display, a powerful new chipset, and a larger battery capacity. One of the previous leaks also claimed that the phone would have magnetic wireless charging support.

A new leak has unveiled yet another significant enhancement. Weibo tipster 体验more suggests that the OnePlus 13 will abandon the optical fingerprint sensor. Instead, it will feature an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. This is something that’s already present in other flagships. That includes the Galaxy S24 Ultra and Pixel 9 Pro.

Ultrasonic fingerprint sensors offer several advantages over their optical counterparts. They are faster, more secure, and can even function smoothly when fingers are dirty or wet.

But the Phone’s Upgrades Will Come at a Cost

Weibo tipster 体验more also sheds light on the OnePlus 13’s pricing. The reliable laker suggests that the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage variant cost CNY 5,299. This represents a notable increase compared to the OnePlus 12. That launched with the same RAM and storage configuration at CNY 4,799. Considering the numerous upgrades, including the new BOE X2 panel, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Extreme Edition, a larger battery, and the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, the price hike is not entirely unexpected.

But again, this price hike would make the OnePlus 13 less appealing to those who prefer to get more value out of their purchases. As a result, many may opt for the slightly affordable Dimensity 9400-powered flagships instead.
