iPhone 17 Series’ Dummies Appear in Hands-On Video, 17 Air Thiness is Exposed

Apple is gearing up to unveil its new iPhone 17 series in September this year. Instead of the usual four smartphones, the company is expected to unveil a super-thin smartphone dubbed iPhone 17 Air. The device will be way thinner than the standard variants, and thanks to leaks, we already have an idea of how thin it should be. The device has already leaked in a hands-on video showing a mold, and then, images depicting the iPhone 17 series dummy units leaked. Now, there is a new hands-on video of the iPhone 17 series dummies. The leak shows the new smartphones, and we can see once again how the iPhone 17 Air is thin compared to its siblings.

iPhone 17 Air Coming to Replace the Plus Variant With an Appeal to Its Thin Design

The iPhone 17 Air certainly is the major highlight in the video. The device is rumored to be just 5.65mm thick. We assume that this shouldn’t consider the slightly protruding camera, but it’s already really impressive. The new device is replacing the iPhone 16 Plus, since that has been the worst-selling model in the range for a few years now. That’s understandable. After all, people do not want a larger vanilla iPhone that costs almost the price of a better iPhone Pro.  However, whether the thinness will make the Air More successful remains to be seen.

After the iPhone mini, it seems that the Plus is the next iPhone to be scrapped for not reaching the company’s expected performance. Now, it remains to be seen whether the thin aspect of the Air will make consumers throw money at it. Apple seems to be keen, and we expect a strong marketing campaign towards the thinness of this device.

iPhone 17 Air

Interestingly, the video also shows a completely different camera design for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. We do see similarities with POCO devices from past generations. Other rumored specs include aluminum frame, a unibody metal design – yes, metal unibody could become a trend again. There are also rumors of a cutout for MagSafe that would allow reverse wireless charging. However, some of these rumors are just wishful thinking as they aren’t present in these dummies. In any case, the design of the dummies could be inaccurate. They do not reflect the product 100%, and we still need to wait for more consistent leaks.

Some of the changes should bring some fresh air into the series, after all, not everything seems to be changing or being upgraded with the new lineup.
