The MateBook X Fold Ultimate Design is the first Huawei laptop to ship with its own HarmonyOS 5 operating system. It also boasts a Huawei-designed chipset, although as yet, there has been no word on the chip itself. But the real wow factor is the screen tech.

When opened up completely, the laptop hosts an enormous 18-inch OLED screen. It features a high resolution of 3.3K with a 4:3 aspect ratio. When closed, the screen is reduced to 13-inch. This provides greater portability and convenience.

The screen boasts a groundbreaking dual-layer LTPO OLED screen. It boasts an incredibly high contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1 when in HDR mode and reaches an utmost brightness of 1,600 nits. It also has a carbon fiber layer under the screen for extra resilience and shock resistance. The laptop itself weighs only 1.16 kg and is only 7.3 mm thick when open despite its size.

Huawei says that the laptop boasts the world’s biggest foldable hinge. The 285 mm long hinge also has a unique three-stage pivot design. The design ensures smooth and strong opening and closing of the laptop. The hinge is able to support the screen at multiple angles between 0 and 150 degrees to suit different working habits.
