Google may soon introduce theme packs to its Pixel phones. This comes following a recent discovery in the Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1 update. new code and a refreshed button in the Pixel Wallpaper & Style app show this new feature.
Google May Soon Be Adding Theme Packs to Pixel Phones

As reported by AndroidAuthority, the button would activate a new app called “Pixel Customization Packs”. The app is not yet available, but the fact that it is mentioned in the code means that it is in development. It is not clear when it will be released, but it is likely to arrive in a future update.
We have no concept today of how these packs of themes would work. Google might offer a few pre-made ones. Or it might be bolder and open up a full theme store, like Samsung and Xiaomi have. Based on Google’s past recent history, a small set of specially selected themes is the more likely possibility.
New Theme Packs Coming Soon to Google Pixels
There is a new “Themes” tab in the Wallpaper & Style app that users see at the top of the Lock Screen and Home Screen tabs. It is described as “Discover Pixel themes”. This suggests that the users can learn to discover and adopt different appearances on their phones.
The code also includes a string named “theme_packs_description.” That implies that each theme pack might have several design elements in it. Those could be wallpapers, colors, icons, fonts, or something else—bundled together as a style overall.
This move supports Google’s push towards greater personalization. Material You and dynamic color theming have already made Pixel phones more personalized. Theme packs would take this further, allowing people to have more ways to personalize their phone to suit their sense of style.
It’s still early, and many details remain unknown. But it’s clear that Google wants to make Pixel phones more customizable. If these theme packs roll out, users can expect a simpler way to change how their phone looks and feels.
As more beta updates arrive, we’ll likely learn more about this feature. For now, Pixel users can look forward to having more control over their phone’s appearance.
