Samsung has officially started producing prototypes of its upcoming next-generation processor, the Exynos 2600. The new processor is using advanced 2-nanometer (nm) technology. The Exynos 2600 will power the Galaxy S26 series, which will likely be available in stores at the beginning of 2026. Samsung’s move comes with the aim to provide greater performance and power efficiency compared to its previous chip, the Exynos 2500, which was produced using 3nm technology.
Samsung Begins Mass Production of 2nm Exynos 2600 Chip for Galaxy S26
Prototype production of the Exynos 2600 began last month in Samsung Foundry. The first batch was promising, reaching around 30 percent in initial tests. Samsung has been working to improve these figures since then. Production efficiency has now increased, and even the manufacturing usage of wafers has been raised.
Two Samsung divisions, namely Foundry and System LSI, are working together to further enhance the process. Their target is to raise the production efficiency level more than 50 percent. That implies that they wish to produce more usable chips with fewer errors without sacrificing speed or power. Quality control is the last thing on their minds as they create this technology.
Exynos 2600: Samsung’s First 2nm Processor
By the year’s end, Samsung will initiate so-called “risk production.” This stage is important as it allows the company to test the chip’s all-around functionality and production safety at an expanded scale. As long as everything continues according to plan in this stage, Samsung will go into full mass production shortly afterwards.
If the Exynos 2600 manages to pass all the tests without any issues, then it will be the main processor of the Galaxy S26 phones. The new phones are expected to be launched in February 2026, but sales are likely to start late February or early March.
This new 2nm processor is an important milestone for Samsung in the global chip business. It can give the company a competitive edge over others by offering better performance and saving power. With this innovation, Samsung hopes to reinforce its position among top players in the smartphone market.
