Microsoft Office 2021 suite will be presented on October 5

Subscription services are gaining popularity. However, many users are not ready to give up on traditional products. It is for them that the Office 2021 office suite is intended, which Microsoft will release on October 5, along with Windows 11.

Like Office 2019, the new Office 2021 can be purchased permanently with a one-time payment, as opposed to Microsoft 365 subscriptions. The new Office suite will be available for both Windows and macOS.

Microsoft has promised to share more details on Office 2021 soon. However, according to Tom Warren of The Verge, the new office suite will receive a number of innovations available in the Office LTSC for corporate clients. Among them – new support for dark mode and new opportunities for sharing.

Microsoft reportedly plans to support Office 2021 for at least five years. The software product will be compatible with 32- and 64-bit systems.

When we look to the future of work, it’s clear it will be built on and powered by the cloud. Microsoft is leading innovations that enable our customers to empower their people to work more collaboratively, effectively, and securely. As we move into a world where hybrid work is the new norm, the cloud provides unlimited potential for teams to connect and create immersive experiences that build connection and progress. Investing in these types of cloud-based solutions will continue to be our priority.

Microsoft Office 2021 suite

The consumer Office 2021 perpetual release will be very similar, offering a locked-in time release without feature updates. Microsoft lists the following additions to Office LTSC, that should also apply to Office 2021:

  • Line Focus – similar to a reading mode to remove distraction and move through Word documents line by line.
  • XLOOKUP function – helps find things in a table or range by row in an Excel worksheet.
  • Dynamic array support – new functions in Excel that use dynamic arrays.
  • Dark mode – all Office apps will include dark mode support.

Office LTSC is available for devices that cannot accept feature updates, process control devices on the manufacturing floor, and specialty systems that cannot connect to the internet. To meet this need, Office LTSC will provide a locked-in-time version of familiar productivity tools. While it offers performance improvements and expanded accessibility, it will not offer the cloud-based capabilities of Microsoft 365 Apps like real-time collaboration and AI-driven automation in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as security and compliance capabilities that give added confidence in a hybrid world.
