Google’s last affordable phone, the Pixel 7a, has had a good run. It stood as a good mid-range phone with a ton of features. But the upcoming Google I/O event is around the corner. And for those unaware, it’s the event where the company launches new A-series phones. So, the launch of the Google Pixel 8a is pretty much over the horizon.

But it seems Google didn’t want to wait long to give us a glimpse of its upcoming affordable phone. After all, its devices don’t stay secret for a long. And, before you ask, no, we’re not talking about another leak. It’s Google who has shown off the Pixel 8a in a Google Fi Ad.

Google Pixel 8a Is Hiding in Plain Sight

For those wondering, Google Fi is an MVNO carrier service. It sells mobile connects under its name, but it’s partnered with registered carriers such as Verizon and T-Mobile. In the countries where Google offers the service, you get to see its ads. And one of these ads has shown off the upcoming Pixel 8a.

The Google Fi Ad has revealed the Pixel 8a in two colors. One is cream in color, while the other has a dark blue hue to it. The person who spotted the ad has compared the device on the ad with a regular Google Pixel 8. Moreover, there’s no question that the device in the ad is the upcoming phone, as the regular Pixel 8 wasn’t offered in a dark blue colorway.

But it’s not just the color. As you can see from the video attached above, the Google Pixel 8a in the ad lacks a glossy finish. That’s something you will find in the non-A device. Also, the corner radius is a bit different, and the cutout placement is not the same as the already available devices.
