TENAA once again reveals the details of another exciting phone! Here are the leaked specifications and first images of the Gionee Elife E8!
At MWC earlier this year, I managed to get a glimpse of a Gionee device which I was later told is the Gionee Elife E8, that device had the same rear panel and fingerprint location as the Gionee GN9008 spotted today at TENAA.
TENAA listings reveal that the Gionee Elife E8 will be a much larger phone than the previous Elife E7. The E7 had a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 display while the E8 has a 6-inch panel with 2560 x 1440 resolution. This large screen makes for overall dimensions of 164.0 x 82.3 x 9.6mm.
At 9.6mm the phone is quite thick giving it room for a large 3520mAh battery, but as we can see in the images (and what I remember) the body does taper to the edges similar to the IUNI U3.
On the rear of the phone we can see that Gionee have included a finger print reader below the main camera and dual LED flash. We can also make out 4 holes above the camera which are likely for the microphone, and a large speaker grill at the bottom.
The rear appears to be plastic with a thin alloy frame around the sides of the phone where a volume rocker and power button are located in the right side.
The front of the phone shows that 6-inch display with narrow bezels and capacitive touch buttons for navigating though Amigo OS on the chin. Speaking of the OS it will be based on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.
TENAA also reveal that the Gionee Elife E88 will have a 2.0Ghz processor, 3GB RAM, 32GB internal memory, room for a 128GB SD card and LTE.
A release date and pricing are likely to be shared with us this month.
Thanks to Realjjj for the tip.
Why must (almost) every Chinese OEM create devices with capacitive buttons!? and they are in the wrong order as well!
I dont like buttons on screen and you still have that big boarder benith. Buttons on screen makes the screen smaller too. And placement with return on right is more logic if you are right handed. Its closer then left.
well this is your opinion π
for me, that is the right order! π
I honestly feel that capacitive buttons are better than normal software buttons.
I have to agree with you on this one, especially if they are backlit capacitive.
cheap please?
If I remember correctly the E7 launched for around $425 US. I would expect this to easily match that and probably be north of $500.
well then π
wow! and today its around 180$ !
Yea thats one of the good things about Gionee phones, the high prices don’t last long. The other good thing is they are an OEM for many sub brands like Blu in the US who get their phones usually 6 months after launch and sell them for cheaper with the correct bands for that country.
wow… they can change bands ?!
They can use different antennae when they build it in the factory, Blu phones are mainly sold in the US so they will support the US frequencies where as Gionee supports Asia.
i see…
thanks
ur quite informative !
are u an Engineer :p ?
Just an enthusiast.
being in the US, i love that BLU is rebranding gionee phones with us bands. haven’t bought one yet, but I’m oh so close. this ones too big though. but i love the rest of the specs.
by the way, i’m a big lurker on gizchina and I have to say that i come here just as much for your comments as the actual articles! respect to balcobomer25, for real!
also love Muhammad Yasir!
I have used a few Blu models – Life Play, Life Pure, Vivo IV and Vivo Air all of them were great phones with good build quality. I have never had a bad experience with Blu/Gionee.
Gearbest.com is selling it for 158$ with this coupon: GEE7
That is for the E7 which is last years model, still a good phone with a very good camera.
I want to see more optimised bezel usage for this phone rather than bare skeleton screen device being produced as a marketing gimmick
Don’t worry, this “thing” isn’t much narrower than a Nexus 6. Oh, and taller than both Mate 7 and the aforementioned Motorola. E7 was a bust in terms of sales, as such, i fully expect to find the E8 a lot cheaper after less than half a year from its launch date.
