Customs officers at ferry terminal always have their work cut out each time a device is due to the influx in smuggling.
The iPhone 4S
launch has caused even more problems though due to the better supply chain Chinese iPhone 4S
smugglers have gained, and the rabid demand for the
new Apple phone.
Recently customs officers detained 2 women for attempting to smuggle iPhone 4S from
Hong Kong in to
Shenzhen with the total value of the
phones estimated to be worth $140,000!
Each arrest was of a lone woman, suspicisally carrying 2 large, heavy trunks. Upon inspection officials found the truncks to contain more than 45 iPhone 4S and some Blackberry phones.
This cat and mouse game between the smugglers and officials is likely to continue to the end of the year when the official launch of the iPhone 4S is expected for China and Hong Kong.
