iQOO Neo12 may get a color edition made with China Academy of Art, leaks say

The iQOO Neo12 may soon stand out from other performance phones for how it looks, not only how it runs. A Weibo post says iQOO has teamed up with the China Academy of Art to create a special color scheme for the phone. iQOO has not confirmed the details, so treat this as a leak for now.

What the leak says

The post says the two sides joined forces to design a custom color option for the Neo12. It gives no name for the color and no images of the finish. That leaves fans guessing. Many are asking whether the leaked pictures already circulating online show this art edition, or just a standard color.
The China Academy of Art is a well-known art school. Its involvement suggests that artists, not only phone engineers, shaped the look. For buyers, that could mean a finish with more character than the usual black, white and blue. The post also implies the art edition will sit beside standard colors, so a more classic choice may still be on offer.

Why brands team up with art schools

Phone makers face crowded shelves, and specs alone no longer win buyers. A co-branded color gives a phone a story and a reason to pay attention. It also lets a performance line like the Neo series reach shoppers who care about style as much as speed.

The screen may be the bigger story

Looks are only part of the package. Separate posts say the Neo12 will use a Visionox screen with 2K resolution and a 185Hz refresh rate. One post calls it the first mass-produced panel with that combination.
The numbers are worth a look:
  • 2K has about 30 percent more pixels than 1.5K.
  • 185Hz refreshes the screen 54 percent more often than 120Hz.
  • Each frame stays on screen about 35 percent less time.
The panel also uses a new light-emitting material called Sky Mirror. Visionox, iQOO and Tsinghua University built it together. Compared with the last generation, the makers claim 8 percent better efficiency and 10 percent higher peak brightness. Power use drops 6.5 percent, and lifespan rises 50 percent. Colors also hold up better at wide viewing angles.
Those are maker claims, and real-world tests may differ.

What we still don’t know

No launch date, price or chip has been confirmed for the Neo12. A separate leak describes an unnamed iQOO mid-range phone with a cooling fan and a 6.59-inch flat screen. Nobody has linked it to the Neo12, so do not assume it is the same device.
We will update this story when iQOO shows the color edition or shares an official launch date.
