As many of you may recall Neo were the company behind one of the better
flagship quad-core phones of last year, the
Neo N003, and are now applying their knowledge to the
mid-range Neo Rio Poppy.
Each year Chinese
phone makers latch on to a new idea and run with it. Last year all
phone makers had to have a
quad-core 1080
phone, and this year we are seeing a similar situation with
octacore devices, but the
mid-range market is where we are seeing a fair amount of battling also.
After the success of the Xiaomi Hongmi in China and the
iNew V3 internationally we are seeing more phones based around a
mid-range quad-core set up with stylish looking and thin design.
Neo’s entry will be the Neo Rio Poppy, seen above for the
first time in a real spy
photo. From the spy shot we can make out the red and gold colours (very Iron Man) and can see dual access trays which will likely be for dual SIM and a micro SD card.
The Poppy is said to measure just 5.9mm and will
first go on sale as a
quad-core MT6582 device, although it is rumoured an
octacore model with Mediatek MT6592 processor will also make an appearance.
