With the launch of the OnePlus 15,
OnePlus will take the opportunity to launch its next major software update - OxygenOS 16. The new update will bring some changes based on Android 16, but it has some differentials that make it unique compared to vanilla Android. This year, however, we will see OnePlus diving deeper in the trend of AI. OnePlus shared a couple of teasers that show snippets of the new Interface and confirm that Google's Gemini AI will be integrated in the software.
OxygenOS 16 To Support Google Gemini in Its System Apps
A new
report says Google’s Gemini will be built right into OnePlus apps. One example is a tool called Mind Space. It works like a digital notebook where you can save notes, ideas, or reminders. With Gemini inside, the app can do more than just store text. If you write down that you want dinner, it can suggest recipes or even show nearby restaurants.
Of course, Gemini's integration with OxygenOS 16 should go beyond the Mind Space. Some hits suggest it will also be available in photo management, call summaries, and smart suggestions in the Notes App. OnePlus aims to make its OS more helpful and powerful while keeping the clean and minimal UI experience.
OxygenOS 16 will make its debut on October 13 alongside the OnePlus 15. The flagship will launch globally in November, and OxygenOS 16 will obviously make its global debut along with the new flagship. OxygenOS 16 will hit older OnePlus smartphones after its official rollout. However, we can't say if all features will be extended to the older devices.
The AI Trend In Smartphones Gains Strenght With OnePlus
OnePlus is joining a big trend in the phone world. AI is seen as one of the biggest changes in tech in recent years, and phone makers are racing to add it to their devices. The good news is that AI on phones is starting to give real benefits, not just flashy tricks. With OxygenOS 16, we can hope OnePlus will make it useful too.
