Google Pixel Fold plan revealed - Q4 launch is possible

Over the past two years, there have been several foldable mobile phones on the market. In the early years, Samsung and Huawei dominated the market, releasing the only folding phones in the market at the time. However, Huawei gradually lost its footing after the U.S. ban, leaving Samsung as the major force to reckon with in the global market. Other brands like Vivo, Xiaomi and Moto have released folding mobile phones. However, these brands do not release these devices as consistently as Samsung does. Now, there are reports that Google will join the foldable mobile phone market with the launch of the Google Pixel Fold.

Rumours about the Google Pixel Fold have existed for several years. Last month, a reliable source released the first render of this mobile phone. Now, a South Korean media revealed more details about the flagship folding mobile phone. The Elec reports that Google plans to mass-produce the Pixel Fold and related components starting in the third quarter of 2023. In other words, this foldable phone will definitely not be launched in the first half of this year. It may be launched in the fourth quarter.

In contrast, Samsung began mass production of components for the Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 in May 2022. The company completed production of the finished phone about a month later. The report also confirmed some more screen details about the Pixel Fold. It reports that the device uses a 7.57-inch ultra-thin glass foldable inner screen and a 5.78-inch outer screen. These dimensions differ slightly from previously leaked information.

The Elec also hints that the Pixel Fold's screen might not be as good as the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Fold 4. Google might not use the foldable screen technology that debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold 3, which would allow the foldable screen to be thinner. The report also claims that the Pixel Fold is unlikely to support a stylus. There are still many doubts about this report. It was previously reported that Google will release the Pixel Fold in April or May 2023.
