TCL are one of the more solid, less spectacular Chinese
phone makers which have been making a living producing good
quality feature phones, that don’t break the bank. The latest
TCL S810 though adds in a
fingerprint proof
screen and water-resistant body.
Despite
phone being designed for use outdoors in all-weather conditions, it is still unusual to come across an Android powered devices which has some degree of water proofing on it.
The TCL S810 is one such phone however, and although doesn’t claim to be fully waterproof, it does claim to be splash proof, which I’ll take as meaning being able to shrug off a dunk in coffee, being splashed in the rain or even the occasional trip in the toilet bowl (it happens more often than you would think).
Along with the water proofing, TCL have added a fingerprint and smudge resistant coating to the screen. Speaking of the screen the TCL S810 has a 4.5-inch 960 x 540 display.
Unfortunately
TCL have chosen to make the S810 less than exciting despite it’s water and finger print resisting properties and have only given this
entry-level phone a 1Ghz dual-core MT6577
CPU and 512MB RAM.
Prices aren’t particularly amazing either as the
TCL S810 will
cost 1300 Yuan ($200+), which is a far cry from the
1000 Yuan HD and quad-core phones we are currently seeing launch!
