Earlier this month,
Realme presented the Realme 16 Pro to the world. If you were questioning when the vanilla variant would give us its grace, the answer is soon. All of a sudden, the vanilla Realme 16
appeared in a couple of
listings on a Vietnamese online retailer. These listings paint a clear picture of the smartphone, leaving little to the imagination. The vanilla Realme 16 focuses on the budget segment, but still delivers a massive battery and 5G connectivity.
Realme 16 Listed Online With Unusual Selfie Mirror
The Realme 16, apparently, will sell in White and Black colors. We can't discard more color options in the future, but these are the only ones available at the listing. The vanilla variant boasts a 6.57-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display brings a new experience for the budget segment with a bright 4,500 nits display (peak brightness). The panel comes with AGC DT-Star D+ tempered glass, offering an extra level of protection. The phone delivers its pricing position with a plastic-based frame and back panel. Despite this, it comes with IP66, IP69, and IP69K ingress protection.
Realme borrowed some inspiration from Google in this particular design. The rear camera with a visor design clearly resembles
Google Pixel's approach. The phone comes with a 50 MP main camera and auxiliary shooters, probably for macro and depth sensing.
One interesting detail is the presence of something called a selfie mirror. That's an interesting and original concept, we have to agree. Forget rear displays for using your robust rear camera when taking selfies; the selfie mirror is here to help you take your selfies with a 50MP shooter.
Decent Specifications For a Budget Smartphone
Moving on, the phone brings the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 SoC with 8GB or 12GB of RAM with 256GB of Internal Storage. Despite the imminent memory crisis, it's good to see that 8GB is the baseline for this smartphone. Interestingly, the phone also has a microSD slot for further storage expansion.
The 6400 brings a decent performance for everyday usage, and medium performance for the most demanding games. There is enough juice to carry this device on with a massive 7,000mAh battery with 60W charging support.
The phone runs Android 16, and presumably comes with
Realme UI 7.0 on top. Despite the extensive level of detail, this phone is not yet available. According to the listing, the Realme 16 is set to launch in February.
