Realme is opening the 2026 season of smartphone launches with the
Realme 16 series. The new Realme 16 Pro and 16 Pro+ will open up this lineup with interesting specifications, including flagship-grade cameras. To detail this "flagship-grade camera" experience, we can start with the fact that both phones will comprise a main 200 MP camera module. Moving on, the 16 Pro+ will have a telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom. This is an interesting advancement for the numbered series, which started with mid-range smartphones featuring average cameras. To further build the hype, Realme
shared more details about the cameras today.
Realme 16 Pro and 16 Pro+ are Coming with 200MP Cameras
The
Realme 16 Pro and Pro+ will have the Samsung HP5 sensor at the helm. This 200MP camera features a 1//1.56-inch type sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. The telephoto camera of the Pro+ uses Samsung's JN5 sensor. Both phones will also include an ultra-wide module.
The Pro+ version brings a "full focal-length imaging system, that supports shooting from 0.6x to 120x. They offer full flexibility across portrait, street, and long-range photography". The company reveals this in a press release.
Powerful Cameras Backed By Enhanced Algorithms
The 200 MP camera comes with "full-pixel auto zoom as well as 1x and 2x lossless zoom." The Realme 16 Pro+'s main camera comes with the LumaColor Image's "advanced algorithmic innovations" unveiled recently. This results in realistic images with vivid lighting and accurate textures. The company will also introduce the "class-first" HyperRAW, InstantSnap, and Anti-Distortion algorithms. They aim to deliver sharper details, more stable dynamic captures, and reduced edge distortion across the full focal range.
The Realme 16 Pro+ supports 4K HDR video shooting on 1x, 2x, 3.5x, and 7x focal lengths. There is also dual-focal 4K 60fps at 1x and 3.5x. The front-facing camera supports 4K@60fps video recording.
Obviously, we have a lot of mouthful words and marketing sentences here that aren't backed by actual results. Anyway, judging by our experience, the Realme 16 Pro and 16 Pro+ are indeed coming with impressive cameras for their category. The devices in this lineup used to bring modest cameras, but now this seems to be changing. It's promising, but only the real results will tell us if this goes beyond marketing fluff.
The new smartphones
will launch on January 6, and the brand will likely increase its marketing efforts in the coming days.
