Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold surfaces in new video — a closer look at Samsung’s next foldable step

Samsung’s long-rumored tri-fold smartphone has finally shown its face again — this time in real-world footage from South Korea. The short clips, aired by SBS News and Omokgyo Electronics, give perhaps the clearest look yet at the device’s unusual folding design and hardware layout. While Samsung hasn’t officially named it, the Galaxy Z TriFold branding seems almost inevitable at this point.

A dual-hinge design with a tablet-like twist

The footage shows the phone folding twice thanks to two separate hinges, one on each side. When fully opened, the device stretches into a 10-inch display, roughly tablet-sized. Fold it back once, and you get an outer cover screen of about 6.5 inches — large enough to be used like a regular smartphone.

Interestingly, Samsung’s approach folds both panels inward, which helps protect the inner display when the phone is shut. Huawei’s tri-fold model, in contrast, folds outward — flashier to look at, but far riskier when dropped. You can also spot two distinct hinge types: one with a smaller bend radius, the other broader, likely balancing tension for smoother motion.

Surprisingly slim for a tri-fold

Despite its layered build, the Galaxy Z TriFold looks thinner than expected when unfolded. The engineers seem to have nailed the balance — literally. Weight appears evenly spread across its panels, preventing the “top-heavy wobble” some users complained about in earlier foldables.

Samsung’s attention to ergonomics is obvious here. Holding it folded looks about as natural as using a slightly chunky bar phone, and fully open, it’s closer to a mini tablet.

Borrowing from the Fold 7 — and adding more

Around back, the camera island looks familiar — almost identical to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 setup:

Both internal and external displays have small punch-hole selfie cameras, which feels more practical than Samsung’s previous under-display attempt. Bezels, though, appear thicker this time — likely a necessary trade-off for the new dual-hinge mechanism.

The video also hints at dual speakers, multiple microphones, and side-mounted controls. The fingerprint reader sits on the power button, keeping things familiar. What stands out is the sense of refinement — Samsung didn’t just make a concept device; this looks production-ready.

As for specs, Samsung’s staying quiet. No chipset, RAM, or battery numbers yet. But with a 10-inch screen and complex hinges, one can assume a sizeable battery is hiding inside. Reports from Korea suggest a launch later this year, possibly as a limited release before a wider rollout in 2026.

A milestone moment for Samsung

If this model does launch soon, it’ll be more than just another foldable. It marks Samsung’s leap from “fold” to “multi-fold” — a new product category that could reshape how we think about productivity on the go. For now, the Galaxy Z TriFold remains a fascinating promise — part phone, part tablet, and maybe the future of both.
