For several months now, there have been rumours that Samsung’s
tri-fold
mobile phone may be closer than ever. Now, a new leak is giving us the clearest
look yet at how it will work. Tipster
@TechHighest shared a short animation found in Samsung’s
One UI 8
software. This animation reveals the upcoming phone’s
unique folding style.
A
U-Shaped Fold, Not an S-Shape
The leak confirms that Samsung is
going with a U-shaped inward-folding design. This means the phone will have a
cover screen on the outside. However, the larger display folds away safely inside. In simple terms, this device will work much like the
Galaxy Z Fold 7.
This approach is different from
Huawei’s Mate
XT, which uses an S-shaped fold that keeps part of its main screen on the
outside when closed. The animation also hints at how the
device will work in practice. For example, the video shows how users can take selfies with this device. This gives us a first real glimpse of how Samsung wants this
design to feel in everyday use.
What
We Know So Far
The tri-fold has been in the rumour
mill for months, and official news is scarce. Many of the leaks so far agree that this device will use a large 10-inch internal screen. This means that when the device is unfolded, it will appear as a small tablet. The
device may also come with a titanium frame for extra strength. Also, it will use a Snapdragon
processor and 16GB of RAM to handle heavy multitasking. Samsung should also add
special features to One UI 8 to make the most of the extra screen space.
A premium device with a premium price
At the time of writing, there is no official information on the price of this device. But, considering its cutting-edge tech, large display, top-tier hardware, and new folding design, this phone will not be cheap. It might even be the most expensive Samsung device ever.
The latest leak shows the
tri-fold phone is almost ready to be revealed, and we expect official details in the coming months. For now, just sit back and look forward to what could be a true masterpiece.
