As we already pointed out in our review, the
Xiaomi Mi Pad is one of the best
Android tablets on the market today, but how long before other Chinese
tablet makers learn from them and produce their own devices? Not long is the answer as the first
Mi Pad rival from iFive has already been spotted.
Chinese tablet maker iFive have been making some impressive
Android tablets this past year, and have taken their expertise to a new level with the iFive Mini 4 which they hope could take on the
Xiaomi Mi Pad.
Like the Mi Pad the iFive Mini 4 has a 7.9-inch 2048 x 1536 Retinal display, Micro SD card , 8 mega-pixel main camera and 2GB RAM. Rather than a Nvidia Tegra K1 chip, iFive have gone for a 1.8Ghz Rockchips and SD cards are limited to 32GB rather than 128GB.
Pricing is where the iFive Mini 4 really comes in to its own though, and at a price of only 1099 Yuan (compared to 1499 Yuan for the Mi Pad) the iFive looks like a very competitive little tablet. If they can produce something similar with 3G or LTE built in for only slightly more we would be seriously interested in one for ourselves!
