Chip maker
Allwinner are planning to
launch their
64-bit chips this year, based on new ARMv8 architecture.
Late last year, Chinese chip maker
Allwinner, showed of a new line of processors based on the new ARMv8 architecture. The architecture is the same 64-bit set up that Mediatek, Nvidia, Samsung and Qualcomm will be using in their new SoC’s.
Allwinner’s
processor will support 4K video, and will be backwards compatible with the older 32-bit, ARMv7 applications.
Devices such as tablets, and powerful
Android set top boxes are likely to be on Allwinner’s radar when they officially
launch the SoC before the end of 2014.
