vivo has set the launch date for
OriginOS 6, its new Android 16-based interface. The software will debut on October 10 in China, with a
global release on October 15, which includes India. This marks a big change in
vivo’s software approach. Until now, OriginOS was limited to China, while international vivo and iQOO phones shipped with Funtouch OS. With the new rollout, OriginOS will finally become the main system for global devices.
The
vivo X300 series and iQOO 15 will be the first phones to come preloaded with OriginOS 6. Older models are expected to get the update later, but the full rollout plan should only be revealed next month.
OriginOS 6 Preview Program in India
vivo and
iQOO India will run an OriginOS 6 Preview Program to give users an early try. Sign-ups open on September 29, but the brands have not yet shared the full list of phones. More details on how to join should be posted closer to the date.
Vivo’s teaser used the tag #vivoXSeries, which suggests the preview will begin with the X models. Other phones are expected to follow after the first test phase.
For iQOO, Shankar Singh, the DGM of Product Management in India, confirmed that the iQOO 13 will be the first to get the preview.
What Happens Next
The important date to watch is September 29, when sign-ups for the preview begin. By the middle of October, the first vivo and iQOO phones will launch with OriginOS 6 out of the box.
This change finally gives users outside China a chance to use Vivo’s clean and smooth interface. In China, the system has been praised for its design and speed. If things go as planned, Funtouch OS may slowly disappear from new phones, with OriginOS taking its place everywhere.
It’s a smart move. It makes vivo’s software easier to understand and helps the brand build a clear identity both inside and outside China.
