Vivo Y500 Pro Is a "Mini" Flagship With Large Display and 7000mAh Battery

Vivo has just released the Vivo X300 series globally and is already moving to deploy a new solid mid-ranger in China. The Vivo Y500 Pro will launch in China on November 10, and as usual, Vivo is running with a teaser campaign in a bid to build hype for its upcoming release. Now, we have some key specifications for the phone that reveal a very interesting device. Curiously, Vivo is calling this a "Mini" flagship despite its large display and huge battery.

The brand took to Weibo today to share some of the phone's key specifications. Interestingly, it's also listed on China Telecom.

Vivo Y500 Pro Key Specifications

The Vivo Y500 Pro that carries the model number (V2516A) will flaunt a large 6.67-inch AMOLED screen. This panel comes with 2,800 x 1,260 pixels of resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, we have the capable MediaTek Dimensity 7400 SoC alongside 12GB RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of Internal Storage.

A Mini Flagship?

We have to agree that this display is still considered large compared to the market. But perhaps, the compact bezels make it smaller than older phones with the same size. We believe that a good screen-to-body ratio with minimal bezels can indeed make this a compact phone. The phone's dimensions are 160.23 x 74.51 x 7,81mm, which indicates a fairly compact phone with a decent thickness.

When it comes to the battery realm, Vivo will follow the current trend in the industry and deliver a massive 7,000mAh battery. It comes with 90W charging. The device also features IP68 and IP69 ingress protection and runs OriginOS 6. Despite the big battery, the phone weighs only 198 grams.

Decent Cameras for A Mid-range

In terms of optics, the Vivo Y500 Pro boasts a 200 MP camera with Samsung's ISOCELL HP5 Sensor. The only other camera on the back is a 2MP depth sensor. There is also a 32 MP camera for selfies and video calls.

The Vivo Y500 Pro will sell in Light Green, Titanium Black, Soft Pink, and Auspicious Cloud Gold Colors. We'll have more details in the next few days. But so far, this looks like a nice device for the mid-range market, and we can expect it to launch globally soon. Of course, its name is susceptible to changes when moving overseas.
