Xiaomi are rumoured to be launching a
new device at 10am this morning, but will it be the
Xiaomi Smart TV or the
Mediatek powered Xiaomi
Red Rice phone!
The Xiaomi
Red Rice Android
phone has shown up in various leaks, and has even been spotted at China’s Ministry of Communication in dual-core and
quad-core variants! If these Antutu screen shots are to be believe though the
Red Rice will be a
quad-core phone, with an
entry-level price tag!
From the Antutu benchmarks we can see the
phone is named the HM2013022 and is manufactured by Xiaomi. The start of that model number ‘HM’ actually fits the Chinese Pinyin name for ‘Red Rice’ (Hóng mǐ). We can also see the
new phone sports a 1.5Ghz
quad-core Mediatek MT6589
processor, in this case the
MT6589T version with higher clock speed and faster GPU, a
720 x 1280 display, 1GB RAM, 8 mega-pixel rear camera and 1.2 mega-pixel front.
With these specs the Xiaomi Red Rice is no slouch and scores 14,073 on Antutu!
No official word has come from Xiaomi yet, but from Chinese
news reports the Xiaomi
Red Rice will cost just 999 Yuan ($160) here in China meaning it will be a direct rival to the JiaYu G4 and many other
phones!
