People were a little upset when
Xiaomi announced the new
Redmi range sans
LTE, but rumours from sources claim that 4G enabled
phones are heading to market very soon.
According to sources close to
Xiaomi, the company have already applied for network licenses for 3 Android devices all of which boast 4G
LTE support, and that these
phones will all be from the
Redmi range.
It is not unusual for
Xiaomi to add features to midrange devices that are missing on their flagship models, the Mi2A launched with NFC for example while the Mi2S never had the feature.
To give the
Redmi range
LTE it is suggested that
Xiaomi have gone for
Mediatek processors including the current MT6582 and MT6592 with new LTE modems and even the still unreleased MT6595 processor. These new LTE Redmi
phones are believed to go on sale in July, which also happens to be around the same time the first Mediatek powered Meizu will go on sale.
