Mystery Xiaomi Q11A model spotted with Snapdragon 8 Elite and huge battery

Xiaomi may be preparing another phone with a 10,000mAh battery, but this one should have much more power. A new device known as the Xiaomi Q11A has appeared in internal testing with a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and 100W fast charging. We don't know its final name yet, but it could launch as the Redmi K90e or even become part of the Redmi K100 series.

Xiaomi already has the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max with a battery this big. Pairing 10,000mAh with a flagship Snapdragon chip, however, would make things much more interesting.

The phone carries the codename "yanan" and is being tested with the model number Q11A. It appears to be based on the same platform as the Redmi K90 Ultra, which gives us a few clues about where Xiaomi may position it.

Inside is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite, rather than a mid-range chip. That's important because phones with very large batteries often focus more on battery life than performance. Xiaomi seems to be going after both here.

The 10,000mAh battery is joined by 100W wired charging, so filling such a large battery shouldn't take forever either. We don't have any charging times yet, but 100W is already more than enough for me. I'd rather have the extra battery capacity than another race to 200W charging.

Some camera details have appeared too. The main camera uses an OmniVision OVX8000 sensor, which Xiaomi has already used on other phones. The test data also lists OV08F10 and OV20B40 sensors for the other rear and front cameras.

That doesn't sound like a flagship camera setup, and it probably isn't meant to be one. Everything we've seen so far points to a performance-focused Redmi phone where the battery and chipset are the main attractions.

One detail is still unclear. The test setup doesn't show any active fan control, which suggests the Q11A may not use a built-in cooling fan. That would make sense if Xiaomi wants to keep the phone closer to a normal Redmi design instead of turning it into a gaming phone.

This is the big question for now. The Q11A is based on the Redmi K90 Ultra platform, so it could arrive as the Redmi K90e. There is also a chance that Xiaomi is testing it for the upcoming Redmi K100 family, which has already been linked to 10,000mAh batteries in earlier leaks.

Nothing has been confirmed yet, including the final name, launch date or markets.

Still, the hardware already tells us where Xiaomi is heading. A 10,000mAh battery is starting to look less like a special feature and more like the next big upgrade for Redmi phones.
