Xiaomi sells 200,000 phones in under 3 minutes in ‘Singles Day’ sale

Today across Asia people are celebrating ‘Singles Day’and to help the celebrations Xiaomi had a sale of 200,000 phones all of which sold out in less than 3 minutes!

November 11th (11,11) is ‘Singles Day’ here in China and certain parts of Asia, a day where singles either celebrate being single, try their best not to be single, or spend some cash on themselves to forget they are single!

Helping Chinese shoppers part with their cash, Xiaomi held a sale of 110,000 Xiaomi Mi3 phones, 110,000 Hongmi phones, 110,000 Mi2S and 50,000 Xiaomi Android boxes. The sale was open to anyone through Tmall rather than the Xiaomi online store,

After just a few minutes all Mi3S and Hongmi’s sold out making $17.5 million for the Beijing based phone maker!

To date this is the best Xiaomi sale on recored, but this is likely to change once again when the WCDMA version of the Xiaomi Mi3 running a powerful Snapdragon 800 chipset finally goes on sale in December.
