YouTube Music has rolled out a fresh new look for its Now Playing screen on both Android and iOS. Reported by 9to5Google, the redesign doesn’t change much about how the app works, but it may take some time to get used to the new layout.

A Cleaner, Modern Layout

The new YouTube Music design is sleek and modern, similar to what we saw in previews last November. One key change is the Song/Video switcher, which has been moved. It’s no longer at the top of Now Playing. Instead, you’ll find it in a scrollable row of actions at the bottom of the screen. This row also includes Thumbs Up/Down, Comments, Save, Lyrics, Share, Download, and Radio. The scrubber bar, which shows your playback progress, is now slightly thicker for better visibility.

Easier Access to Up Next and Related Content

Accessing your Up Next queue has also changed. You can now tap or drag up on the playlist or radio name to reveal the upcoming tracks. The new dual-pane view in YouTube Music shows a few upcoming songs with an option to expand and see more. Related content and Lyrics can now be expanded as well, giving you more ways to explore while you listen. However, note that YouTube Music may soon limit full lyrics access to Premium subscribers.

How to Get the YouTube Music Update

The redesign is rolling out gradually. Those that haven't already received the new update can try this quick trick Open your device Settings app, navigate to "Apps", then locate the YouTube Music app. Tap on Force stop. Reopen the app again and you may see the new update.
This new update doesn't have any effect on YouTube Music's core features. However, it breaths a new life into the app, giving it a cleaner and a more polished feel. It brings a modern listening experience to music and podcast lovers.
