Dual-core 4.7 inch THL W5 coming soon for $145

THL are planning to raise the already very high bar for low-cost, high performance Chinese phones later this year with the release of the THL W5 which will feature a 4.7 inch 1280 x 720 display!

The flagship THL W5 is rumoured to be going on sale very soon and if these specifications are anything to go by, this $145 Android phone could be one to look out for this holiday season.

Boasting a dual-core MT6577 CPU and 1GB RAM along with all the other normal Android phone features should place the W5 on par with the UMi X1 and JiaYu G3, but being newer generation phone the THL has a few updates up its sleeve.

Gizchina News of the week

The screen for example is a larger 4.7 inch unit with a 1280 x 720 resolution, a front 2 mega-pixel camera keeps video calls nice and clear, while a rear 8 mega-pixel camera with LED flash, HDR, auto-focus and F/2.8 aperature should improve low light photography.

Power comes from a 2000mAh battery which is about average for this type of phone and Android 4.0 ICS runs the show, with a rumored Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updated coming a few months after launch.

We’ll post more details of the THL W5 as we get them.

Lowest price is $248 with coupon from antelife, but when it will be available after 2 weeks, i expect that will cost max 220, or even lower(i hope below 200).

I don’t see the point of this phone compare to the W3+

If they could at least put a bigger battery since my W3+ battery (same size) last no more than 24 hours.
