Neken N6 to be updated to Turbo MT6589T spec

The Neken N6 is the next 1080p quad-core phone which is already receiving a 1.5Ghz Mediatek MT6589T quad-core processor.

The UMi X2, Mlais MX58 and now the Neken N6 are 5-inch, 1080 phones which are being updated to the latest Turbo spec. As with the other turbo phones the rest of the N6’s specs remain the same, but the upgrade to 1.5Ghz MT6589T SoC with faster GPU should improve performance.

Gizchina News of the week

Neken will launch the N6 in either Basic or Advanced specs with either 1GB RAM and 16GB ROM or 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM. A IPS 1080 OGS 5-inch display, 13 mega-pixel rear camera, 5 mega-pixel front make up the rest of the hardware.

A release date and firm price hasn’t been mentioned but we hope to see pricing on par with the Mlais MX58, so around 1199 Yuan ($195).

Maybe it’s just a copy of the iOcean phone? But I share your suspections.. This phone does look almost like an iOcean with another logo.. 😉

      It certainly looks like it!

I was wondering what the 1 Gram meant from the pic, until I realized it was 1G RAM. LOL! 😀

That’s not true i saw that a coupke of weeks before! I think that it will be Samsung Exynos 5 but is too soon to write of that.

In fact the iOcean x7 model is a copy of a Oppo Find 5 and this one is a copy of iOcean x7.. so maby copies? xD, but i really love these spec’s and the desing of this one. Price?

Heh, if Newman actually release an Octa core phone at the same price as they’re N2, it would be EPIC and SENSATIONAL.

The youth version of the X7 isn’t the most phenomonal phones, poor black levels and all, so don’t like it much. If the Neken N6 is rebranded OEM, then I’m expecting the same.

        • May 26, 2013

          First off, it’s not a true octa-core.
It’s a hybrid a15/a7 architecture and you can only use 4.

furthermore it doesnt make sense for newman to release a phone with last year’s chipset that draws that much power. (45nm vs 28nm).

The 4412 also does not have source released for it.

Also. What’s wrong with the iocean x7’s black levels? they’re really black! it’s like a nexus 7-type black. you dont get blacker than that unless you use amoled.

The blacks on the Zopo ZP980 are a more deeper black than the iOcean’s. Not that I ocean’s are bad or anything, it’s just that there are better ones. Also, even if the octacore is 4 cores taking turns, it’s still an octacore, and an expensive one at that, which is why Newman might not be able to incorporate it without increasing the price.

iOcean or Neken or any future smartphone is not a copy of anything. Is just an OEM product with different logo.
The same as all these HTC butterfly MT6589 clones. Any model is not a copy of any other model. Just same OEM made in same factory. Of course some small components can differ like the BT-Wi-Fi chipset or camera..

Again: SAME phones, DIFFERENT logos. No one of them have a factory which make all the components for the phone. They are just asking the real manufacturer to make a phone for them.

And this manufacturer is possible to be Ningbo Bird.

Interesting.. I thought the bigger companies had their own fabrics..

Some do but not necessarily for all models

After looking at Mediatek’s website it appears that there’s no mention of a 6589T: As far as I can see, there’s only a MT 6589 and that’s it.

Can we conclude that the 6589T is only an overclocked 6589? If yes, then are these companies supposed to charge more for basically the very same processor?

Would be more than happy to have anyone’s input.

Waiting for MT6589T phones with qHD OGS display and 2gb ram 🙂
There’s no need for FullHD on 5″ or less
